On May 27, 2026, local TV station, KOLOTV, featured StreetReach in a piece about mobile healthcare in Reno.
The background: UNR is bringing healthcare directly to those who need it most through a new agreement with Washoe County finalized in April 2026. Led by the Orvis School of Nursing, UNR has taken ownership of a mobile health outreach vehicle — originally purchased with American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds — to expand community-based care across the region.
The vehicle will power the StreetReach program, providing low-barrier, nurse-led healthcare to individuals who are unsheltered, intermittently housed, or connected to street-based communities — meeting people where they are, not where the system expects them to be.
Services include wound care, bloodborne virus testing, and connections to ongoing healthcare and social support resources.
